I am an ontarian who is moving to the GTA. Our Green spaces are precious, the greenbelt houses valuable wetland and forests that are home to diverse ecosystems. Yes there is a housing shortage but we do not need more car dependent suburbs full of single family dwellings. What Ontario needs is more walkable higher density neighborhoods. The reintroduction of 5 over 1 housing for example would not only increase housing supply but create spaces for local businesses. The most desirable neighborhoods to live in, in Toronto are walkable they have family run grocers, local cafes, access to public transit, and parks. If you really care about Ontario, about the people in this beautiful province you will reject this proposed "solution" to the housing crisis for a more community focused, environmentally conscious strategy for housing and economic development.
