The need to protect the environment and land is entrusted to government via their election. The actions of the current PC government advancing private interest over public trust in this case needs to stop. There is sufficient land elsewhere to build upon in Ontario, without impacting the Greenbelt.
Seeing as the Greenbelt provides “750 000 acres of some of the most productive agricultural land in Canada,” (AG Report, February 2019), the sale of these lands would be a short sighted venture. The people of Ontario rely on government to make sound decisions based on the greater good. In this case Ontarians expect their current PC government to protect these lands for not only Ontario’s continued well-being, but also for future generations.
