I am not proud and I do not support the government of Ontario in their goal to make changes to the Greenbelt. Bill 23 and this proposed amendments are not in the best interests of current or future Ontarians.
The Greenbelt should remain untouched, protected land which will be a safe environmental haven for all future generations. There should be no highway development, no land development, no housing development etc. on this land. I do not support their re-allocation of the greenbelt in order to promote housing. Urban sprawl is a serious concern; zoning laws in developed urban areas should be changed to enhance the opportunity to build up not out. As well, public transit needs to be the highest priority to help citizens live healthier happier lives and help promote the success of building up.
Again, I am not in support of this proposal or any Bills which will impact or develop on the Greenbelt.
