I want the lease extension to be granted to the cottage owners of Rondeau. The need for this extension is placed solely on the dragging feet of the members of Ontario Parks. An agreement was made in August of 2019 in which the lots were to be sold to the Municipality of Chatham-Kent who would in turn sell them to the cottage owners. A fair price was reached using outside evaluators and the Ministry would receive approximately $30,000,000 all the while receiving even more land gifted to them by Chatham-Kent resulting in a net gain of environmentally protected land.
There are many Ontario Parks with cottages as part of their make-up yet Rondeau is the only Park that was specifically designated for a cottage community. Ontario Parks is to this day increasing the number of "roofed accommodation" in many of their Parks yet there seems to be a vendetta against the cottagers of Rondeau.
It is my hope that anyone reading this post would visit www.RondeauFacts.ca to educate themselves on many if not all of the misconceptions being repeated by those suggesting the cottages should be gone.
Please visit Rondeau before you make a decision one way or the other to experience the uniqueness of Rondeau. You won't be sorry that you took the time to educate yourself and enjoyed the beauty of this Park. Remember no changes would occur to the access of all the facets of Rondeau that are available now if and when the lots would be sold.
