I do not support opening the Greenbelt in Ontario to development. I believe this will only increase sprawl and not address the housing crisis in Ontario. Additionally, I would like an investigation into the reported speculation of people purchasing land just prior to this announcement who appear to be Large donors to the PC Party of Ontario given reports Doug Ford Provided information regarding this decision prior to annoucing it publically. I am also concerned that municipalities will be unable to fund infrastructure to support such development without a significant tax increase to municipal taxes. This legislation only benefits rich developers and undermines democracy which seems to be a theme with Doug Ford. The Ford Provicial government has undermined democracy with the abuse of MZOs, this legislation and the Mayoral powers legislation. Soon Ford will be looking to be the authoritarion overseeing all decisions in Ontario so why even have elections.
