This plan is incredibly short-sighted and damaging for Ontario.

Not only does Ontario not need more detached single-family homes incentivised in this way, it's been apparent to planners since the 1950's that tract housing of the type proposed here is terrible for services, public transit, and other organic community growth. Tract housing doesn't allow for entrepreneurship, stores or other private small business enterprise. It requires huge infrastructure investments to make up for the poorly laid-out plans and the low density of housing from which residents must commute for work.

Our children and grandchildren will not be able to get back this land once it's been developed. We are not short of space in which to put housing outside of these areas. The environmental degradation likely resulting from this proposal is inexcusable.

Doug Ford should be required to publish a list of the campaign donors who are developers that own land in the proposed areas.
