There needs to be an alternative to doing anything to the Greenbelt.
Doug Ford promised NOT to touch the Greenbelt. For a government that has prided themselves on caring about farmers and businesses, this action on the Wetlands affect the farmers.
We are losing hundreds of acres of farmland every day, according to the Ontario Federation of Agriculture.
There cannot be any ideas for potential buyers to believe that any part of the Greenbelt can be for sale. We have enough land for sale. There was not even a public process for deciding which lands to be removed.
The More Homes Built Faster Act will leave most wetlands completely unprotected. Wetlands are vital for endangered species and tourism. Smaller municipalities don’t have the expertise to reproduce the services of Conservation Authorities. Conservation Authorities shouldn’t identify land to sell off.
Bill 23 harms democracy by reducing municipal powers and preventing third-party appeals to development projects.
