It is pretty clear to the public that the greenbelt is about to become a joke if you’re able to add and subtract land to it at the will of a politician.
This will encourage developers to buy greenbelt land and lobby. This is precedent that makes land speculation in the greenbelt a viable and lucrative activity, and every time there is a weak political friend in office…they win and the environment looses.
A politician whose friend Rice is about to make billions on the backs of our environment. How exactly is Rice (and other developers) going to compensate Ontario for the ever lasting destruction they are about to cause?
Please don’t make the greenbelt just another plot of land for speculators…the pressure will never cease once you do, and we will be having these consultations every 4 years.
