We have been learning much about colonization on this land, in the past couple of decades. Our government keeps apologizing for its mistakes and promising to make changes that will address the damage we have done and continue to do. And yet here I am reading about the governments desire to eliminate thousands and thousands of green space to be resines for high volume construction? When are we going to learn? At the rate we are going, it’s going to take irreversible consequences for our nation and our species to realized that this is all a mistake. Stop thinking about money, capitalism, and consumerism. Start thinking about sustainability. There is study after study that supports the necessity for green space and nature, for both the physical and mental health of our species. Taking it away to drop thousands more homes and millions less of trees is NOT in the best interests of our people.

I haven’t even touch on the impacts that this is going to have our our wildlife. We’ve already taken so much from them, we've succeeded at the extinction on many species, and we threaten many more. We have invaded their lands, their homes, with no consideration for their well-being. We are all interconnected. Humans, animals, and no living things. What are the environmentalists saying? This land was stewarded by Indigenous peoples, what they sustained for thousands of years, we have nearly destroyed in a few hundred. What would the elders advise?

In summary. I completely oppose this plan, and I will take action to ensure that our green belt is protected. Build up on the land that you’ve already developed. Consider sustainable housing options that have minimal impact on the environment. But do not alter this land that has been protected until now for a reason.
Thank you
