Thank you for allowing public consultation on this Act. I strongly oppose the More Homes Built Faster Act. Lack of housing is absolutely a problem, but there are better development options that will set us up for the long term, that don't damage ecologically important land or limit agricultural land we'll need for future food. Now is a critical time to make better choices for the future, and I think the More Homes Built Faster Act is a missed opportunity to do so. Instead, development could focus on repurposing or constructing new buildings for housing in Toronto or other cities (which could have the added benefits of creating affordable housing, having more workers in Toronto, and reducing commuting). Or, development could focus on less ecologically sensitive land. Creating more urban sprawl is not the answer. The Greenbelt is protected for a reason, and the government can absolutely come up with another option that protects land and better serves the people who will live in the housing built.
