There is already plenty of land set aside for housing and development. The problem is not a lack of housing, but a lack of accessible housing. House/rent pricing is unchecked, and the government (provincial and otherwise) has allowed housing to become an investment rather than stay as a human necessity and right. We don't need more overpriced single-family houses filled with the cheapest and most short-lived fixtures and appliances, we need already approved land for development to require multi-family housing, such as apartments (not "luxury" apartments either).
Developers need to be stopped in their greedy pursuit of money over their duty to serve the community they are building in.

Above all, development is one of the top threats to endangered species, cutting into the greenbelt will have a detrimental effect on many sensitive/endangered species in Ontario. This will inevitably lead to a cascading effect, and though most may hardly notice the loss at first, it will be hard to ignore down the road, when we realize we've poisoned the land and water that we have to drink from, and we were much more dependent on each species for their unique role in the ecosystem than we initially chose to believe.

There is no point in building more housing for a future of humanity that won't be able to feed or protect itself from countless looming natural disasters, due the devastating consequences of our current government's lack of consideration and thought. We birth Canada's, and humanity's, future with every decision we make; don't let that future be harder for future generations than it ever has been for us as a result of our neglect. Further extensive urban sprawl is not the answer to this housing crisis, tempering the rampant greed and usage of housing as an investment is.
