I am against the amendments to the Greenbelt to accommodate the More Homes Built Faster development plan and a new highway. While, I understand the need for more housing this is not the best way to improve the housing situation. I say this as an Ontario citizen who has been unable to purchase a home due to the current real estate situation (of which amount of homes is only a part of the overall housing crisis). The Green Belt supports and protect an agricultural system and waterways that will be key in the future of Ontario and quality of life for its citizens. This will be increasingly important as Ontario's population continues to grow. The proposed Highway 413, has a minuscule improvement to commuters is not worth the removal of natural lands and the destruction of wildlife habitats. It would be better to supplement the under used Highway 407 and exploring rezoning previously developed but under used areas to accommodate housing. I strongly encourage that you reject these proposed amendments in favour of protecting the Green Belt.
