I am proud citizen of Ontario in my 40s. I strongly oppose the conservative government's bill to build more homes faster. I believe environmental impacts are over the top negative if this greenbelt swath is destroyed. Farms and nature are very important. I am very angry with these greedy developers and Ford facilitating this which will be a disaster to the environment. Killing animals and plants and agriculture is wrong. The developers are being enabled in this bill to skip paying for all of the infrastructure and other things that have to be done to facilitate municipal growth. They will pass the costs to the city of TO and others. It will cost all property owners to build this new property, it's extortion. The power the wealth will add the developers would pave the way for these few companies to be so large and monopolizing that of course will raise housing costs and not ever lower them. Competition will be obliterated. They are also not developing affordable housing for the average demographic of our newer Ontarians. This is all bad and I don't want it to happen. They should clear the backlog at the tribunals for housing and work with federal partners to build in better places at capped costs with investment positively reaching municipalities involved.
