I am against the removal of all the proposed areas of land from the green belt. I understand the need for more housing, though the solution to this is achieved by rezoning areas that are now zoned for single family homes so that our urban and suburban areas can become more dense with apartment buildings or multi-unit houses. This is also the more eco-friendly option, as denser areas require smaller commutes and allow for residents to use transit. We are living in a time where climate change should be at the forefront of every decision and removing portions of the green belt goes against everything the green belt was designed to protect. These are important natural corridors for both animals and humans alike. I am begging you to please reconsider removing these areas from the green belt as there are many other more viable solutions to the housing crisis.
