Doug Ford promised that “we won’t touch the Greenbelt.” That was his mandate. The Progressive Conservative government has shown that they lied to Ontario voters.
Valuable farmland is currently being decimated for development already. The Greenbelt is surrounded by development already. Once farmland and natural areas are destroyed they can never be replaced.
We do not need to expand development lands. We just need to build smarter on existing housing lands. What we do need is land for food and nature. We can't live without either.
