I'm strongly opposed to the governments amendments to the greenbelt plan. As other groups have mentioned, including the Chiefs of Ontario and First Nations, Association of Municipalities of Ontario, and countless conservative groups, architects, and urban planners - the amendements do nothing to increase affordability of housing, encourage sprawl over density measures, remove green spaces, and weakens land and water environmental protection. In addition, there have been reports of conflicts of interest and corruption between the government and developers (see CBC, Toronto Star, globe and mail, and the narwhal). This is not putting Ontarians or the environment first.
