I have been a public servant for 17 years and I have never witnessed such poor decision-making by a government as that of Bill 23. Without proper density and no more sprawl, we will diminish further any hope that our children and grandchildren's lives will be stable, let alone, enjoyable. I site the following:
- data shows that all GTHA municipalities can build more multi-unit homes and apartments to accommodate the growth rather than expanding our urban boundaries even more!!!!
- taking away natural heritage systems and farmland is so short-sighted when you realize the climate change is CHANGING how we access food. Without the ability to grow food, Ontario will be a place of "haves" and "have-nots" with the rich able to live stable lives, and the less wealthy, left to scrape along.
I AM USING CAPS BECAUSE I NEED TO STRESS THAT THIS BILL WHICH TAKES AWAY GREEN SPACE, FARMLAND AND DISREGARDS ALL CLIMATE CHANGE SCIENCE IS THE MOST EGREGIOUS PLANNING I HAVE EVER WITNESSED. PLEASE REPEAL BILL 23 AND FIGURE OUT A PLAN WHERE DEVELOPERS PAY FOR NEW DEVELOPMENT AND DEVELOPERS BUILD MORE MULTI-UNIT HOMES AND APARTMENTS INSTEAD OF MASSIVE SUBDIVISION IN OUR AGRICULTURE AREA, RICH WITH CLASS A SOIL. I am also going to take a legislative challenge forward as a remedy to see if our laws can protect citizens like myself from misguided planning decisions like this one. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
