The Greenbelt was established in 2005 for scientific and environmental reasons that have not changed today. In fact the Greenbelt is even more important in 2022, as the effects of Climate Change become more frightening. It is crucial to keep both the Greenbelt and the Conservation Authorities intact and strong.
Although a Liberal government was in power, the current government's leader promised that they "would not touch the Greenbelt". That was a wise decision in 2018 and even wiser today.
Ontario can build affordable housing by building up and not out. I, like many others, will be out on Sunday to protest Bill 23.
