The GreenBelt must be preserved at all costs. This is the future of our province and of our future generations. The fact that developers have purchased land in the GreenBelt when they knew they could not build on it, and, now, suddenly, they are able to build on these lands reeks of corruption. The Premier should be ashamed of reneging on his promise never to allow building on the GreenBelt. He lacks all credibility. His friends in the development community are being enriched at the expense of taxpayers and future generations. I'm sure these comments will not change the Premier's mind, but for me it is important that the Premier knows that there are many, many, many people in Ontario who are angry about his decision to sacrifice vital green space. We need to preserve farmland, headwaters, marshes and forests in order to preserve and continue to have a healthy environment in Ontario. The building of new homes can be done in current cities on lands owned by the province as well as in towns that have underutilized land, e.g. parking lots, single story homes, etc.

It is a very sad time for Ontarians that the Premier believes that removing lands from the GreenBelt is the right course of action. The "replacement" lands the Premier is offering are not of the same quality that is being removed. We need to grow food to continue to support Ontarians. When this land is turned over to housing it will never be recovered for farmland.

I never thought in my lifetime I would be so disillusioned by my government's blatant disregard for the environment and for its citizens. It is clear that Premier only listens to those with money, especially those who contribute to the PC party, and he has no qualms about this at all. It is disgusting.
