I, along with dozens of geography students here in Ontario, do NOT support the proposed changes to the Greenbelt Plan that would remove or redesignate 15 areas of land. This plan ONLY stands to put money into the pockets of wealthy developers. Once you build on the land, we CANNOT get it back. This land is CRITICAL to the health of our ecosystems, biodiversity, clean water, farm land and crops, air quality, amongst other factors. You are destroying our future and the future of generations for your short-term greed. You (Doug Ford, PC Party, Developers) should be ashamed. Urban sprawl developments are NOT the answer - this has been proven time and time again in major urban centres around the world. Educate yourself enough to know that mixed-use developments and building up are the answer, not removing the precious environmental land we will need in the future. This proposal should NOT be passed through. Talk to educated urban planners, scientists, and researchers to develop sustainable, viable, long-term solutions.
