Guidelines need to be expanded to encourage active transportation links within new and expanded communities. Pedestrian routes across, under or over busy motorized routes must be included in planning for safe mobility. Non profit making parks and other recreational amenities must be included in plans. Build up not out. Put parking lots under commercial buildings where large acreage is set aside for parking and use this land for increased housing or for parks and active transportation routes.
