Please listen to the Auditor General's recent report recommending a review of the Province's storm water management program!!!! Responsible management of wetlands and water systems are essential as we deal with the coming weather events climate change is bringing. Conservation Authorities and Regional Governments have the plans, the tools and the expertise to effectively manage the coming events to minimize damage due to flooding. Remember Hurricane Hazel and the conditions that contributed to the ensuing extensive damage AND the steps that were taken to manage future events.
Repeal of Bill 23 would be a step in the right direction. We have enough land currently in the pipeline to meet housing needs for the next 30 years. This includes lands within current municipal boundaries, intensification and inclusionary zoning which are part of Hamilton's existing housing plan. Additionally, in Hamilton approvals have been issued to build a significant number of houses and the delay is with the builders/developers who are waiting for interest rates to drop!!!!!!
Continuing with Bill 23 will likely leave a legacy which you would not like to have. AND remember, we all vote!!
