Hello,

As a Canadian immigrant, award-winning entrepreneur and business owner I have an abiding appreciation (really, love) for life here in Canada. I find a deep gratitude in being able to employ and support my community. I appreciate the civic, legal and social culture here - which is relatively free of corruption and undue influence.

That is why the proposed Greenbelt plan concerns me. The handful of wealthy developers to benefit clearly have more policy influence than the voters whom have already spoken on this matter.

Given that many of the developers appear to have ties to organized crime, the Greenbelt plan is given the appearance of impropriety, in turn. Even the appearance of corruption-as-policy should be of grave concern, since it cheapens our collective engagement and trust in democracy - and can ultimately destabilize the social trust.

Moving forward will have significant consequences that reach far beyond housing.
