I'm very frustrated that the government has proposed this change, despite prior statements saying they would not touch the Greenbelt. As someone who voted for the Conservatives, this is a betrayal of trust, and it's short sighted (along with the Conservation Authority impacts in Bill 23, and the ultimate shifting of development charge costs onto tax payers).
The existing Greenbelt land has been protected for a reason. There is no protection at all if governments decide to change which areas are protected as a matter of convenience.
If this change is passed, I will certainly not be voting for the Conservative Party in the next election. This is very poor policy, and shows a lack of integrity.
