The proposed changes to the Greenbelt is an indication of how short sighted the Ontario government is when it comes to protecting the Boreal forest and the well being of future generations. Climate change and it’s effects have become more noticeable over the past few decades and more action to reduce global warming is necessary immediately. Protection of the Greenbelt is important for so many reasons of which fresh drinking water is one of the most concerning. Squandering the best farmland in the country is a mistake. Urban sprawl will negatively impact everyone and add extra strain on communities and environmentally sensitive areas.
