The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing is seeking feedback on proposed changes to the Greenbelt Plan that would re-designate lands for development and add other lands for re-designation to the Greenbelt.
Attached is a planning justification letter prepared by MGP Planning that proposes re-designations for for lands owned by 1176847 Ontario Limited and 514052 Ontario Limited, known as Orfus Realty. The land is located in King Township, municipally known as 13516 Bathurst Street.
Should the province concur, the proposal would facilitate the partial development of the 500 acre property by creating a 305 acre public park, along with the potential of creating 1,000 to 1,500 mixed residential units.
The Orfus lands are surrounded by settlement areas. Allowing the partial development of the lands opens up a vast area of parkland for public use, along with the potential for much needed housing options.
