I want a real climate change plan to reduce emissions, help people save energy and create jobs in the $26 trillion clean economy.
I want Ontario to put a price on pollution, making polluters pay for their emissions and returning the revenues to the pockets of Ontarians so they can lower their carbon footprint.
I want legally binding emissions targets in line with our obligations to the Paris Climate Agreement. I want my grandchildren to have an Ontario and a climate to live in that is not drastically worsened by a selfish and reckless disregard for the real and critically urgent need for actions by our Ontario government and Ontarians, corporate and individual, to mitigate and reverse the adverse effects of climate change. Removing current controls with your bill is unconscienceable. Changing or replacing what controls exist without first consulting with recognized, knowledgeable and credible experts in this field and, very importantly, giving Ontarians and their representative groups an opportunity and adequate time to make their views and recommendations heard and have them fairly reflected in any changes or additions to Ontario’s legislation in regards to climate change would be an act of reckless and unforgivable high handedness. If you continue on your present path, our children and grandchildren will look back on your actions and inactions in regards to tackling this coming climate change catastrophe with a deep and bitter regret that you, Doug Ford, did not act in their best interest. Please think of their future lives and do not erase the climate change mitigation measures we presently have unless and until you have thoroughly and demonstratively explored our options and clearly shown that what you propose to do will improve their future lives!
