I am writing to express my concerns with the More Homes Built Faster Act, Bill 23.
I agree that we need to take action to increase our housing supply, but it can’t be at the expense of our parks, environment and heritage, or the building of affordable housing.
As a property tax payer, I don’t want my tax dollars going to fund developer profits.
I am concerned that this bill will see the raising of property taxes, the loss of parkland, the paving over of the Greenbelt, and a loss of heritage in our City, with no guarantees that any more housing will be built or that it will be affordable.
The Ontario Government NEEDS to take the time to fix Bill 23. Cities and property tax payers shouldn’t be on the hook to fund developer profits, nor should protected greenspace.
I IMPLORE you to repeal this Bill, or to seriously amend the removal of conservation authorities power and potential for greenbelt development. This is not a plan that is going to help the present or the future.
