I'm deeply concerned, and frankly outraged, at this attempt to remove greenbelt land for the sake of development, when we have evidence that there is enough land already available (see attached "Report of the Ontario Housing Affordability Task Force"). There is nothing stopping this government from adding the Paris Galt Moraine land to the greenbelt without removing land that is already protected, although according to Erin Town Council (where I reside) the land is adequately protected by pre-existing Planning Act Provisions.
If the goal of the provincial government is to get more affordable housing built faster, there are ways to do it more efficiently by building density within pre-existing boundaries rather than promoting urban sprawl in areas that are essential for our agricultural sector, local biodiversity, and healthy climate.
