I heavily disagree with the proposed amendments to the Greenbelt Plan.

We don't need more urban sprawl, we don't need more highways. What we need is to build higher density in the areas that exist currently, and build more public transit options.

The Greenbelt is untouchable. It's not acceptable to just part and parcel it off, so developers can get rich, under the excuse of "needing more housing" when we have much better solutions already. Density and public transit.

I find it highly unlikely that it's just a "coincidence" that major donors to the PCs bought land in areas of the Greenbelt that up until this bill had no developmental value for them. That speaks to me of a rotten government, making public policy decisions that enrich private citizens. A government that already PROMISED they wouldn't touch the Greenbelt, after the last public backlash when they suggested they were going to do something to it.

There are no excuses that can be made. There are no "compromises" where land is "added" to the Greenbelt. That's a lie because most of that land is already protected. Taking land from the Greenbelt sets an extremely dangerous precedent and completely undermines its effectiveness. The Greenbelt is vital to our health and our economy.

Keep your promise to protect the Greenbelt, stop this plan.
