The greenbelt serves many purposes; reducing it to develop more car-dependent neighbourhoods is incredibly short-sighted.
It provides habitat, farmland to support the population, protection for water sources, recreational opportunities.. the list goes on.
With a changing climate and increasing population, it's more important than ever to preserve the greenbelt.
