This is absolutely ridiculous.

The changed outlined in Bill 23 would be permanently damaging to the future of Ontario and of Canadians.

This is prime agricultural and biodiverse land. We rely on it for innumerable benefits. To remove that during the onset of the climate crisis would be to remove one of the best chances we have at ensuring a resilient food system.

With the global supply chain crisis, the crisis in Ukraine, the droughts during the summer that reduced food production - this should tell you what our future would be like under climate change. Not only would developing land on the Greenbelt increase emissions by releasing stored carbon, but you are destroying food sources.

These homes won't matter if the people who would have lived in them all starved to death. Or fought each other for food, or if they were forced to choose between food and housing costs that increased anyway because the costs to maintain the infrastructure to these homes actually increased because they did not make compact communities and municipalities had to raise taxes in order to pay for them in the first place.

Not to mention building in flooding areas. What's your plan for that? I read in a National Observer news article that you actually have none.

Your adaptation plans, your efforts to move the greenbelt somewhere else, your plans to try and grow food further up north, to invest in greenhouses... this cannot make up for these actions.

You already made the mistake of canceling renewable energy projects and then reinstalling some of them, and then are spending 12 billion on a nuclear plant when you said you would try to save money by canceling renewables.

You have not proven you actually think about the future. This desperate attempt at housing immediately when we had a housing problem for so long won't change that.

It is the same for the climate problem. And you will cost us billions of dollars and thousands of lives.
