There is no need to encroach on the Greenbelt. There is plenty of land already set for development within the white belt for houses to be built. Fragmenting the protected lands is not environmentally sound.

On checking with a number of districts and municipalities in Ontario they all report having already approved plans to build hundreds of homes, some of which have been approved for years. These properties have not seen any building even though construction was approved. The developers apparently just hold onto the property until they can make more profit - usually by flipping the property amongst themselves.

Thousands of homes could be under construction starting now without any further planning process or the sacrifice of the Greenbelt.
