The current Bill23 rides roughshod over our green spaces and shoves the costs of development onto the backs of current residents and municipalities. It passes on significant harm to future generations who will have less green space, wetland and watershed protections and shockingly reduces heritage protection as well.
Your government has forgotten what “conserve” means in spite of your party name. Cancel this Bill 23 and get plans in motion to expand the Green Belt to include the Blue Belt around it as soon as possible. Severe climate impacts are ahead for our future! Increasing housing density inside cities can re purpose existing housing footprints by downscaling tmega homes and boosting varied models of supportive housing with additional floors and multiple apartments. Rent to own condos can give our younger people a chance to secure a future for their families. There are many models of success out there without taking over green spaces that we need for habitat protection and ground water recharge to withstand future climate chaos. The knowledge is there. The developers must be controlled through planning departments that have strategic plans for future growth and sustainability.
