I find it deeply troubling that the Ontario Provincial conservative party is removing the protection of certain areas of the Greenbelt - laying the groundwork to continue to pave over Ontario's proitected land for house development

I find is incredibly disrespectful to citizens of cities, like Hamilton, who have had municipal democratic processes vote to stop urban boundary expansion and protect the Greenbelt. Hamilton's voice has been completely overridden by the Ontario provincial conservative party's greed and apparent collusion with home developers.

This land, while vacant, is not necessarily logistically feasible for development. The lack of infrastructure to support suburban development in these regions will need to be solved and funded through taxation. Those taxpayers will be nearby residents who have explicitly not agreed to this through our own democratic processes. Developers in the pockets of the provincial government will be making huge amounts of money while taxpayers will be footing the bill to support their projects.

It really bothers me that the motive for this action is to tackle the extremely high housing costs, while the housing to be built in these areas will just be more unaffordable single-family housing.

Please reconsider this motion to promote urban sprawl - a symptom of the worst kind of urban design, and a means of stripping away protected lands from Ontario citizens who have grown up loving it, and want to share it with future generations.
