The land that is in the Greenbelt has been studied and was added to protect watersheds, land for farming, corridors for species, green space for future generations. This was done back in 2005. How can the government now decide without any environmental assessments to take land out. Why should the people of this province trust the judgement of this government when it doesn't have any facts to claim that this land can be taken out of the Greenbelt without causing harm to the environment?

The fastest way to create more housing would be to build on all the land that has already been zoned for it and has the infrastructure required and to increase density where people already want to live. Why should taxpayers subsidize wealthy developers and landowners by paying through their property taxes for infrastructure to built in Greenbelt lands that were put aside for everyone to enjoy. Why would the average person agree to this terrible decision. During the pandemic, people had to compete for green space and camping spots-we realized how important green space was for our well being.

Sprawl is more expensive that higher density buiding and it creates traffic jams. Any part of the GTA with sprawl like Vaughan, Markham, Durham has already seen a traffic increase. No one wants a two hour commute and building more roads to Mcmansions just wastes land that is prime farmland and is definitely not affordable.

Farmers deserve to know that prime farmland is protected and we need to become self-sufficient food producers. California has had a drought for years, lettuce is in short supply, companies like Driscolls (from California)are starting to grow their strawberries in Quebec. We need to protect farmland-not build sprawl.
Thank-you.
