There is no reason that we should decimate our procious natural heritage to address the housing crisis, other than abject greed. We should prioritize densification and the development of brown fields, as well as intensifying urban development. Many of our cities have places that could be redeveloped, further developed, etc. Single use, sprawling buildings are not sustainable, and this will destroy our water reservoirs, farmland, and natural biodiversity. Flooding will increase as water can't be resorbed. Why are we investing in sprawl and increasing our reliance on petroleum when that system has been proven to be detrimental? How will the building of McMansions and suburban homes help those in Ontario who need affordable housing? We need to think tactically and not bumble forward with destroying something that can never be recovered. I urge anyone involved with this proposal to please reconsider, redraft, and listen to what the people are telling you.
