I think the greenbelt - all greenbelts - should be left as green space to protect water trees swamps as well as of course the birds animals and reptiles that live there. A number of years ago these spaces were meant as a barrier against floods and now we more clearly see how important they are to help protect us against climate change. There is not much point in having a nice home anywhere if you can't enjoy it because of flooding wildfires and/or excessive heat.
By using the green belt spaces particularly the one north of Toronto the services needed to service the houses -- roads/streets sewers water mains it connections schools hospitals etc etc will
mean the destruction of the soil trees wet areas etc which will take decades to replace or never be replaced. This cannot be condoned especially
when there are other ways and places to accomplish the goals.
The other issue is transportation. We do not need to have more highways. Put the housing where the houses already are and encourage transit
Mr Ford should realize he was put in power by a very small portion of the population. A lot of us are not pleased by a number of his decisions.
I want to live in a democratic province.
