This is an absolutely disgusting proposal in so many ways, that I struggle to know where to begin. For the Conservative Party and Doug Ford in particular to claim that this is being done under the guise of “affordable housing” or as some sort of solution to the housing crisis is absolutely laughable and just adds insult to injury. How stupid do you think the people of Ontario are?

It’s bad from an environmental perspective as you are removing critical protected lands that will never recover. It’s bad from a planning perspective as there are no densification requirements, perpetuating the immense urban sprawl problem that we’re already facing in this area. It’s bad from a city perspective as you’re slashing municipal funding required in order to maintain vital infrastructure. It’s bad from an agricultural perspective since this land is integral to our food supply. The foreseen and unforeseen negative consequences of this absolutely ridiculous proposal are unlimited.

In fact, it seems the only people who stand to benefit are Doug Ford and his friends. The corruption is so blatant that it is disturbing. You should all be charged with racketeering, or at the very least you should be deeply ashamed. I personally have never felt so sad to be a citizen in this province as I have in the past few months since Doug Ford was re-elected. Between stifling workers rights, gouging health care and now trying to set fire to the most important green space in the province, it is clear that Doug Ford won’t stop until he runs this province into the ground.
