I oppose Bill 23 and the development on the Greenbelt which will be allowed. I oppose building and paving over parcels of land on the greenbelt.
BILL 23 does not allow development which will sustainable . I opposes building within the greenbelt for tbe following reasons ;
1) sustainable building codes will not be followed ie solar energy, also windows will prevent bird strikes
2) urban sprawl is normally not built near transit so cars are used more whuch will contributing to global warming
3 )the cutting of all thoses trees is not good for global warming..trees help cool our planet
4) loss of animal habitat, insect fields and fish streams
5) paving over wetlands will not help our flooding problem ( see article) as they absorb water they also filter it. Flooding has become more of a problem due to more extreme weather, when it rains now it tends to be a downpour and flooding risks become an expensive occurance to homowners and businesses. Wetlands also filter alot of the pollution.
6) our municiply taxes may go up in price due to the tbe developers not having to pay the normal fees to municipalties which help with the cost for new roads, sewers etc.
7 ) farmland is being paved which will have bad effects on food security
8 ) the greenbelt has the oak ridges morraine which stores our clean drinking water , we should not mess with this
9 ) greenbelt provides an habitate for endeagered species
10 ) greenbelt helps with mental health we cannot live with urban sprawl. We should be developing more walkable, communiting orientated cities
