The proposed changes to the Ontario Regulation 299/19 is ridiculous. All it does is benefit the City in more taxes and in builders/contractors. Adding additional dwellings in subdivisions that were never intended to have that amount of people puts additional stess on the system, our environment and the community. It could also potentially reduce the land value for neighbouring properties. Who wants to live next to a home that has multiple families in it and renters when you own your home? you have no idea who's living next to you. IF this is permitted, and I hope it's not, then it should be allowed ONLY for immediate family members such as parents and children. There is all this talk about affordable housing, so build afforadble housing. Why are developers building housing that isn't affordable? why doesn't the government provide developers with price breaks? Why doesn't the government give incentives and money back to first time home buyers? Because this Bill provides for lining government's pockets and not giving an ouce of regard for the environment and residents' concerns.
What happend to appartment rentals? Are they no longer affordable? why not? What is the government doing about that?
Also this is a sub part of Bill 23 which has far reaching impacts on our environment. I'm totally disgusted that our government would even consider such a thing.
