To All it May Concern,
Bill C23 is an affront to present and future Ontarians and Canadians. It is clearly not in the best - or even good - interests of the people it claims to serve. This Bill benefits a few wealthy developers while jeopardizing the economic, social, and environmental security of virtually all present and future Ontarians. It doesn’t even ensure the safe building of affordable housing for those who need it- as it purports to do. It undercuts all efforts to build resilient housing, infrastructure, and communities to help withstand the onslaught of disasters brought on by climate emergency. Remarkably, it boldly undermines democracy.
Stop enabling the destruction of the lands and waters we depend upon. Stop destroying the fertile land we need to grow our food. Stop destroying the wetlands we need to safeguard our clean potable water and prevent or diminish flooding. Stop downloading financial costs to municipal taxpayers. Stop bulldozing the Democratic rights of Ontarians. This bill is rotten throughout. Scrap the whole thing. We can build plenty of new homes without destroying all that we cherish and depend upon.
