As much as we need more housing, we need the land for natural resources more. The federal government continues to bring in more immigrants and most of Canada’s population can be found settling in and around this greenbelt. There are other ways to resolve the lack of housing then paving over land that will never be returned to its natural state again.
Placing more incentives with moving people to areas with existing houses and lower density rather then placing the incentives in developers.
Farmers lack the ability to be the strength to resist the greed of development as the government mounts taxes and hoops that they must jump through. They have no other farmers lined up to fill their shoes due to the costs and other barriers of entry to the next generation.
