I believe the cancellation of Cap and Trade is a very serious mistake. Government's first job is to protect its citizens. The cancellation of cap and trade puts us all at risk especially our children. The destructive effects of climate change are irrefutable
and burying your head in the sand and pretending it will all be fine is not a worthy option.

Cap and trade has already been a benefit to Ontario creating an environment in which investment in responsible energy use is rewarded. It created a virtuous circle of cause and effect with money raised being used to pay for further energy energy saving projects. These in turn creates jobs and help to slow the increase in atmospheric carbon and other green house gases. Instead of leading Ontario will be a laggard. This will be our Avro Arrow moment when an entire industry is undermined because of political shortsightedness.

There is no gain here. The costs of cap and trade were minimal while the costs to our economy of cancellation will be high. Industry will see the benefit of avoiding regulation as you reward those who did not comply and investors in government sponsored projects will rightly see Ontario as an unreliable partner to be avoided.

This is not a legacy to be proud of. Please withdraw Bill 4 and let common sense direct your environmental policies.
