I have been a facilitator for MMAH and an instructor for the OBOA for nearly 20 years. I do not understand or agree with the concept that a building official who will never in their career see a rapid transit be required to be tested on that component of the Code. Also there are many other areas of the Code so special that perhaps the qualification exams should not include them. For example shelf and rack storage systems, high buildings to name a couple. Perhaps the exam for Part 3 Large Buildings should focus on the general aspects of such buildings without the details of these very specialized structures. I think doing so would greatly improve the examination success ratio. There could be specialized exams to cover such issues. Much the same as a doctor chooses to specialize in cardiology a building official could do the same. There is also an issue with doing exams on a computer. One cannot answer those questions they know and then go back to the ones they needed time on. I would be happy to assist the Ministry in working on improvements
