I've reviewed the proposed changes and while I support the overall intent, one proposed change is in my view discriminatory and effectively acts to privatize the water the the sole benefit of private cottage owners while preventing its use by others. This is the proposed regulation that you cannot camp (or anchor your boat) overnight withing 300m of existing buildings or structures. 300m is far too great a distance. In Georgian Bay there are many many well established anchorages that are within this distance of existing structures. A single cottage located on a small island would prevent over 20 ha of water being used. The fine grane natures of islands and waterways in Ontario makes this distance unrealistic.
Further this regulation would encourage people to build small structures on their property for the purpose of privatizing many many hectares of public water. A review should be undertaken to establish the existing anchorages that would be affected by this regulation. 50m or 100m may be a more reliastic number.
