It is irresponsible to cancel one plan without a fully vetted and agreed upon alternate plan in place. Given the current state of environmental concerns and the number of crisies resulting from the lack of proper attention by governments thus far, the current plan is absolutely needed to remain in place until such an alternate plan that will honestly and urgently address the environmental concerns facing us today and in our immediate future is passed and operational. Such a plan should
- reduce emissions, help people save energy and create jobs in the $26 trillion clean economy.
- put a price on pollution, making polluters pay for their emissions and returning the revenues to the pockets of Ontarians so they can lower their carbon footprint.
- have legally binding emissions targets in line with our obligations to the Paris Climate Agreement.
- put Ontario on the path to be 100% powered by clean energy by 2050
- end subsidies and handouts for fossil fuel companies and redirect this money to clean energy solutions.
