I object to floating cottages because
1. They have no financial stake in maintaining the environment. You can be sure that grey water will enter lakes. People will not move their “cottages” to empty their holding tanks. They will bathe and do dishes in the water. Biodegradable soap is only biodegradable on land. Read the label!
2. The water treatment technology is old. Does it meet standards necessary given higher temperatures caused by global warming? Floating cottagers could cause an algae bloom and just pull up anchor and find a new spot.
2. They have no need to maintain good relationships with neighbours. One cottager asked a moored boat which had been in the same spot for days to keep the noise down. They were promptly told to F off and if they didn’t the boat owner would post that this was an excellent place to moor.
3. These industrial cottages are ugly. I want to enjoy my view and not have to look at an ugly boathouse with people bathing in the lake.
4. Having floating cottages close by will invade our privacy.
5. What will these moored boats do with their garbage and organic waste. Will it attract bears and raccoons? If they have created a nuisance bear they can just leave. It is not so good for the bear and the remaining cottagers. Or perhaps they will through garbage overboard.
6. These floating cottages do not pay taxes.
Please ban floating cottages!!
Thank you.
