The UN recently released a devastating report of how quickly we are warming our earth and preparing us for the consequences of unhindered destruction of our one and only planet. In light of this (and the many, many other scientists who've raised alarms and sent warnings, not to mention the unprecedented increase in extreme weather events - including flooding, drought, extreme heat, hurricanes, tornadoes, etc.), it is absolutely foolhardy to make concessions for industry to pollute and contribute to our changing climate with impunity. It is short-sighted. It is irresponsible. And it endangers us all. The most frustrating part of this situation is the absolute refusal of the Conservative government to consider anything as being more important than corporate money-making. We need to pay for the destruction we wreak. We need to hold polluters accountable. I am terrified for my children and grandchildren, and it is absolutely infuriating that you, as law-makers holding our futures in your hands, would look upon the vulnerability of our children's futures and say, "not worth protecting it."

Instead of rewarding polluters with tax breaks, how about we take a logical, informed, careful approach to the very real problems before us?

* I want a real climate change plan to reduce emissions, help people save energy and create jobs in the $26 trillion clean economy.
* I want Ontario to put a price on pollution, making polluters pay for their emissions and returning the revenues to the pockets of Ontarians so they can lower their carbon footprint.
* I want legally binding emissions targets in line with our obligations to the Paris Climate Agreement.
* I want Ontario to be 100% powered by clean energy by 2050 (though by the UN estimates, even that will be far too late.)
* I want Ontario to end subsidies and handouts for fossil fuel companies and redirect this money to clean energy solutions.
