I feel strongly that the repeal of the Cap and Trade is the incorrect move for Ontario. This Bill should be cancelled.

There are numerous problems with this approach, including:

1. sending the wrong message to investors in and outside of Ontario that what the government puts in place cannot be trusted, and one's investment could be cancelled - without consultation or an understanding of costs, benefits, risks, etc.

2. losing jobs and investments in Ontario. Green technologies and businesses, along with businesses looking to implement improvements, and hiring staff will now not expand, and I know of a number of them that are now planning for their expansions to be outside of Ontario.

3. to be cancelling a significant strategy without a plan to replace it or provide an assessment, is foolhardy and does not allow anyone to assess the change and provide well informed and considered 'consultation' feedback. Clearly the government has made this decision without any analysis, i.e., what it will cost Ontarians with respect to the our environment, our health, our future economy, and our jobs.

In addition the position of the Ontario government to fight the Federal carbon tax shows the short-sited and narrow view of the government on this extremely important issue. Clearly just focused on making more money for people that only car about their immediate pocketbooks and nothing about future costs, future environment here in Ontario, and the future of our children.
